| The way you view and download the data files will depend on your browser and settings. 1. Click the track and date you desire. 2. You will be prompted to enter your user id and password as issued by Top Speed Horses, remember they are case sensitive. 3. Once your id and password have been authenticated by our system, it will then depend on your browser and its settings. One of the following methods should work for you. Once logged in you may download as many files as you wish during the session. It might ask you if you want to download it or open it, if so just proceed with your preference and file destination. NOTE: You might want to download into one directory for all your downloaded tracks or have a different directory for each different track and month that you download. If you plan on keeping data more than 1 month prior, include the month when saving the file. Example: You are downloading the latest file for Belmont Park(June 21). The file will show as BEL21.TXT ; save it as BEL0621.txt If you don't have a different directory for the month or if you don't add the month to the file name, an earlier saved month with the same day/date could be over written when you save the next data file for that track with the same day/date. If you just wish to keep just one month's back data, then there is nothing else you will need to do. If the page opens immediately, you may of course view it and then if you wish you can save it. Internet Explorer has the tool bar on the top, and on the right side click on [Page], then on [Save As.....], and select your desired destination where you wish to save the file. If your browser has [File Edit View Favorites Tools Help] across the top left bar of the browser, of the just downloaded file, then click on [File], and then [Save As.....], and select your desired destination where you wish to save the file. Datafiles when opened, will open in a new window. With Firefox, If the page opens immediately, you may view it and then if you wish, save it by right clicking with the mouse on any area of the downloaded page, and then select [Save Page As....], and then select your desired destination where you wish to save the file. Then to view them from the destination where you saved them, simply click on the desired file, using Windows Explorer or My Computer. The first two or three characters in the file name are standard track designations. If the track uses only a 2 character code, the third position will be padded with a "X" in that position. If a one character track code, then there would be 2 X's following the single character track code. Example would be the harness track Meadowlands. The standard code is "M", our file code would be "MXX". Some tracks use 4 characters, like Freehold(Fhld), in that case we use only the first 3 characters; "FHL". The next 2 digits are the day/date the races were run for that track. The files you download are standard text files and can be opened with any text editor like Notepad or Wordpad (file type might need to be changed to .txt ). Usually the text file will immediately open without having to select a method to open it, if not you might need to set either Notepad or Wordpad as your default text viewer. *************************************************************************************************************************************************** ******* Files are available up to one month prior. ALWAYS check the date on the top of the file you are viewing or downloading. It could be the prior month. The BOLD number day is the latest file. Any days before the BOLD date are the current month. Any days after the BOLD day are the prior month. Thirty one days are always shown even though the present month might have less days. Example: For Aqueduct the BOLD number day is 17. Therefore; days 1 thru 17 are for the current month and days 18 thru 31 would be the prior month. (NOTE: If the meet just began, it could be from the prior meet, months ago) If there was no racing on a given date, or the information was not available, the page will display as "not available". View the file first; to make sure the data was available before downloading, otherwise it will download as a blank page with only a note stating it was not available. Tracks that have ended their meet will eventually be deleted. New datafiles are added every few days. Due to the large volume of database operations there is a potential for errors. Please check dates on top of file page. If you notice any error, please contact us: info@topspeedhorses.com |
